Bora-Bora yacht club!
Vi fick en fin övergång till Bora-Bora. Vi tog en boj innanför passet på västra sidan i fint turkost vatten. Denna ankringsplats var känd för två snorklingsparadis med massor av hajar och rockor! Alltid lika häftigt att simma runt med ett 10 tal hajar runt om en haha! Vi hittade en fin liten strand där Hedda kunde gräva och killarna och vi byggde en häftig palmblads koja. Längs stranden växte både bananer och papaya. Tyvärr kan man inte plocka frukten utan alla ägs av någon. Frågar man brukar de alltid säga ja men problemet är att det inte alltid är lätt att hitta någon att fråga.
Morfar hade pratat om Bora-Bora som är känt för seglare och turister att vara en av de vackraste öarna som finns. Och absolut, Bora-Bora är vackert men det är ju alla öarna här.
Lunchen blev på den kända Bora-Bora Yacht Club! Häftig restaurang med utsikt över lagunen. Vi stannade hela eftermiddagen och bara njöt. Killarna hittade ett biljardbord så det blev två riktigt roliga spelomgångar medan Hedda sov. Jag och Hannes mot Jimmy och Hugo! Tanken var att vi skulle passat på att köra med jollen och handla men det struntade vi i för nu började det skymma och vi ville komma hem innan det blev mörkt.
Jag och Jimmy stack istället tidigt nästa morgon till affären. Allt är så lätt nu när vi har en bra utombordare. Då kan vi ta oss långt med jollen utan problem! Vi la till vid en restaurang med förtöjningsknapen en meter från bordet där vi efter handlingen tog en liten frukost fika!! Mums!! Så smidigt för vi kunde köra kundvagnen ända till kajen där jollen låg.
Väl tillbaka på båten satte vi kurs mot andra sidan Bora-Bora. Det blev en fin lagunsegling i mycket vind men också smala trånga pass där vi bara hade några meter mellan märkena och på andra sidan märket var där ett korallrev där korallerna stack upp ovanför ytan. Så härligt att se Bora-Bora ön från lagunen. Det gröna berget som skruvar sig upp är så vackert med det turkosa vattnet som inramning. Jag förstår att Bora-Bora är så populärt för visst är det otroligt fint!
Vi tog en boj på sydöstra sidan denna gången. Här i Bora-Bora får man inget ankra, de är rädda att korallerna förstörs så det finns bara ett ställe man kan ankare. Men hittar man en boj är det mycket skönare att slippa oroa sig för ankaret (om det är en bra boj vill säga som inte ligger för tätt eller släpper). Allt var väldigt smidigt här, en motorbåt med två trevliga personer kom till bojen, tog betalt för bojen och hämtade sopor och hjälpte till med information om Bora-Bora. Så skönt att bli av med soporna för det har inte varit helt lätt här i Sällskapsöarna och det är inte så roligt att ha dem på båten i denna värme.
Tyvärr blåste det fortfarande en hel del men revet hjälper mycket som skydd. Vi åkte in till motusen och njöt av solen som gick ner, grävde liter, lekte och tittade på när en fiskare rensade fem gigantiskt stora tonfiskar!! Dessutom kunde vi alla stå på bryggan och se när både hajar och rockor kom för lite fiskrens-kvällsmat!
Nästa dag åkte vi till en helt fantastisk korallerträdgård. Ja nu har vi snorklat otroligt mycket men jag blir ändå lika glad när man simmar och ser allt vackert och alla nyfikna färgglada fiskar!
Idag blev det ännu en lyxrestaurang. Det var sista dagen med mormor och morfar ombord så vi slog till med lunch på Bora-Bora Beach club. Inte billigt men väldigt gott och vackert upplagt! De dekorerar ofta tallrikarna med vackra blommor så det blir så fint för ögat också! På vägen till stranden med restaurangen gick vi förbi en mysig liten food truck där vi tog en smoothie i den mysiga lilla trädgården. Känns alltid lite lyxigt när man bor på båten att man kan åka in på land och promenerar och bara kan gå in och handla en fika, gå på restaurang osv.
Ja det blev en fantastisk sista dag med mormors och morfar. Det har varit så roligt att ha dem ombord och att de får se, uppleva och dela en del av allt vi gjort och varit med om. Så roligt också när vi får besök för då vill vi visa och uppleva mycket. Det blir något nytt även för oss som varit är så länge.
När mormor och morfar lämnat tog vi en lugn eftermiddag med läsning, pyssel och mys på båten.
We had a nice sail to Bora-Bora. We took a buoy inside the pass on the west side in fine turquoise water.
This anchorage was known for two snorkelling paradises with lots of sharks and rays! It’s always so cool to swim around with about 10-20 sharks around you! We found a nice little beach where Hedda could dig and the guys and we built a cool palm leaf hut. Along the beach, both bananas and papayas grew. Unfortunately, you can’t pick the fruit because everything is owned by someone. If you ask, they always say yes, but the problem is that it is not always easy to find someone to ask.
Lunch was at the famous Bora-Bora Yacht Club! Awesome restaurant overlooking the lagoon. We stayed all afternoon and just enjoyed. The guys found a pool table. We had really fun playing while Hedda slept. Me and Hannes against Jimmy and Hugo!
The plan was that we would take the opportunity to drive with the dinghy and get some groceries, but we skipped that today, the sun was already going down so we went home to the boat instead
Jimmy and I went to the store early the next morning instead. Everything is so easy now that we have a good outboard motor on the dingy. Then we can get far without problems! We docked at a restaurant with the mooring a meter from the table where we, after the grocery store, had a small breakfast coffee!! yum!! So easy with all the groceries because we could drive the shopping cart all the way to the quay were the dingy was.
Once back on the boat, we set course for the other side of Bora-Bora. It was a nice lagoon sail in a lot of wind but also narrow narrow passes where we only had a few meters between the marks and on the other side of the mark there was a coral reef sticking up above sea level.
So lovely to see the Bora-Bora island from the lagoon. The green mountain that turns up is so beautiful with the turquoise water as a frame. I understand that Bora-Bora is so popular because it is incredibly beautiful!
We took a buoy on the southeast side this time. Here in Bora-Bora you are not allowed to anchor, they are afraid that the corals will be destroyed so there is only one place you can anchor every else there are mooring buoys with is great and much easier then anchoring (well if it is a good well maintained buoy on the right spot)
A motorboat with two nice people came to the buoy, charged for the buoy and picked up garbage and helped with information about Bora-Bora. So nice to get rid of the garbage because it hasn’t been easy here in the Society Islands and it’s not so fun to have them on the boat in this heat.
Unfortunately it was still quite windy today but the reef helps a lot as protection. We went to the motus (coral island) and enjoyed the sun that went down, played in the sand and watched as a fisherman cleaned five gigantic big tuna!! We could all stand on the jetty and see when both sharks and rays came for some fish supper!
The next day we went to an absolutely fantastic coral garden. Yes, we have snorkelled amazing spots a lot but I’m still just as happy when you swim and see everything beautifull and all the curious colourful fish!
Today was another luxury restaurant. It was the last day with grandma and grandpa on board, so we took lunch at the Bora-Bora Beach Club. Not cheap but very tasty and beautifully laid out!
They often decorate the plates with beautiful flowers so it looks so nice to the eye too! On the way to the beach with the restaurant, we passed a cozy little food truck where we had a smoothie in the nice little garden. It always feels a bit luxurious when you live on the boat when you can go on land and walk and just go and buy a coffee, go to a restaurant, etc.
It was a fantastic last day with grandma and grandpa. It has been so much fun to have them on board and that they got to see and experience some of the things we get to enjoy. It is so nice share our adventure and it is so much easier for them to know what we have done now when they have been here and lived on our boat for more then three weeks. So fun too when we get visitors because then it will be something new for us too.
When grandma and grandpa left, we took a quiet afternoon with reading, crafts and coziness on the boat.
