Laga kylen och handla massor av mat i Raiatea
Det var dax att säga hejdå till vackra Tahaa ön. Idag skulle vi lägga till vid Raiateas lilla stad till kaj. Vi har aldrig legat vid en kaj mer än i Tahitis marina några få dagar så själva tilläggningen kändes lite nervöst. Ofta kommer det någon och hjälper till och det gjorde det nu också och det gick jätte bra. Jimmy har verkligen lärt sig manövrera båten kanon fint.
Det är lite skönt att bara kunna hoppa av båten och gå i land. Jag sprang snabbt till frukt och grönsaksmarknad och inhandlade så mycket frukt och grönt jag kunde hitta. Papaya, mango, ananas, lime, ingefära och avokado. En dam blev nog glad att jag handlade så mycket så hon gav mig en hel påse stjärnfrukt. Därefter gick jag och barnen till en fin liten restaurang precis vid kajen och där började vi beställa lite lunch medan Jimmy tog emot killen som skulle laga vår kyl. Jimmy anslöt till oss lagom till att vi fick in två väldigt goda pizzor. Det är alltid bra att alla är mätta innan vi ska gå och handla haha. Vi handlade en hel del. Lika bra att passa på när affären låg över gatan från kajen och vi kunde låna kundvagnen och rulla all mat ända fram till båten. Sådan lyx är vi inte vana vid! Vi fixade även nya minneskort till vår goprokamera och lite annat smått och gått som tex bensin till jollen.
Kylen lagades snabbt av en mekaniker, tyvärr tog han sönder lådan när han skulle lyfta ut kylen, glasbotten gick i tusen bitar, suck. Hur skulle vi hinna få en ny innan 14-15 tiden då vi planerade att lämna så att vi hann till nästa fina ankringsplats innan det blev mörkt. Otroligt nog, han hann fixa en ny botten i aluminium så vi kunde lämna och hitta en ny ankringsplats på andra sidan Raiatea eftersom det skull vara starka ostliga vindar. Vi ville ju ligga fint för nästa dag var det midsommar!!!
It was time to say goodbye to beautiful Tahaa island. Today we were to dock at the small town of Raiatea. We have never been at a dock more than in Tahiti’s marina for a few days so we felt a little bit nervous. Often someone comes over to help when they see us come in to the marina and someone came today as well, so nice. It went very well. Jimmy has really learned to manoeuvre the boat really well.
It’s kind of nice to be able to just jump off the boat and go ashore. I quickly ran to the fruit and vegetable market and bought as many fruits and vegetables as I could find. Papaya, mango, pineapple, lime, ginger and avocado. One lady must have been happy that I bought so much so she gave me a whole bag of star-fruits. After that, the kids and I went to a nice little restaurant right by the dock and there we started ordering some lunch while Jimmy met the guy who was going to fix our fridge. Jimmy joined us just in time for us to get two very good pizzas. It’s always good that everyone is full before we go to get groceries haha. We did a lot of shopping. We wanted to take advantage of that the shop was across the street from the quay and we could borrow the shopping cart and roll all the food all the way to the boat. We are not used to such luxury! We also got new memory cards for our gopro camera and a few other small things like petrol for the dinghy.
The fridge was quickly fixed but the mechanic, unfortunately broke the box when he was going to lift out the fridge, the glass bottom broke into a thousand pieces. How were we going to get a new one before 3 pm -when we planned to leave so we could get to the next nice anchorage before it got dark. Amazingly, he managed to fix a new aluminium bottom so we could leave and find a new anchorage on the other side of Raiatea as there were supposed to be strong easterly winds. We wanted to sleep well because the next day was Midsummer!!!
